Karunya Consulting has executed a wide range of projects, throughout Africa and across a broad range of Clients. A selection of these projects is presented below:

SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT, CEMENT PLANT AND QUARRY, NIGERIA
 

Leading the social components of the Scoping and ESIA phases of the project. This includes identification of stakeholders, planning of baseline data collection, oversight of local sub-consultant, finalisation of the baseline report and stakeholder engagement plan, and the development of the impact assessment and the management plan.

BIODIVERSITY AND ECOLOGICAL BASELINE, COPPER MINE, BOTSWANA
 

Overseeing the development of a wet and dry season biodiversity and ecological baseline study to serve as a baseline for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment. This is to international standards.

INTEGRATED RANGELAND ASSESSMENT, UNDP, BOTSWANA

 

Leading the social components of  the integrated rangeland assessment. Socio-economic baseline and profile development for three geographical areas of Ngamiland, stakeholder engagement through participatory community mapping, key informant interviews and questionnaires, formation of a sustainable multi-stakeholder platform.

DUE DILIGENCE, UNDERGROUND MINE EXPANSION, SOUTH AFRICA
 

Responsible for the social component of an underground mine expansion project for international financing. Reviewed against the IFC PS and EP. this included the review of labour and working conditions, community relations and development projects, cultural heritage, resettlement, compensation and livelihood restoration. 

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, WIND FARM, KENYA
 

Social component to review the current project documentation including the ESIA and other project related documents. Development of the Social component of the Environmental and Social Management System.
